The Ecosystems-Based Climate Change Adaptation Project (ECAP) was a targeted three (3) year development intervention that will build local socio-economic resilience to climate change in the northern parts of Fiji.

ECAP had the aim of :

  • delivering climate resilience benefits to an estimated 71,000 people by strengthening civil society and expanding ecosystems-based economies through forest carbon income and production of certified rainforest honey;
  • promoting, supporting and hastening the work of local organisations, Government agencies and the private sector at sub-national and local levels to deliver development activities in to the communities and improve their resilience;
  • focusing on communities that are vulnerable, and activities that are responsive and inclusive to community priorities whilst being reinforced and well supported by national processes.; and
  • strengthening the enabling environment and local capacity to develop, drive and take to scale inclusive socio-economic resilience.
