Environmental Surveillance Field & Laboratory Officer

Live & Learn Environmental Education (Live & Learn) is seeking to recruit an Environmental Surveillance Field & Laboratory Officer to be based in Labasa, Vanua Levu.

Live & Learn is a local Non Government Organization (NGO) working to reduce poverty and foster greater understanding and action towards a sustainable future through education, community mobilization and supportive partnerships. The successful candidate will support the TyFIVE Project by implementing environmental surveillance activities, coordinating laboratory processes, conducting field sampling, performing molecular diagnostics (including qPCR), and engaging with health authorities to strengthen laboratory capacity and surveillance systems.

Minimum requirements include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology or equivalent
• 1–2 years of laboratory experience, including microbiology and molecular biology (PCR/qPCR)
• Ability to perform environmental and clinical specimen analysis
• Strong understanding of laboratory data analysis, stock management, and infectious disease surveillance
• Fluency in English (written and verbal) and knowledge of local language
• Willingness to travel within the Northern Division and Suva
