Ecosystem Based Climate Adaptation Project

(ECAP)

The European Union funded project “The Ecosystems-Based Climate Change Adaptation Project (ECAP)” implemented by Live and Learn Environmental Education Fiji is a three (3) year development intervention that will build local socio-economic resilience to climate change in the 3 province (Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata)  of  northern division Fiji. ECAP aims to:


  • deliver climate resilience benefits to an estimated 71,000 people by strengthening civil society and expanding ecosystems-based economies through forest carbon income and production of certified rainforest honey;


  • promote, support and hasten the work of local organisations, government agencies and the private sector at subnational and local levels to deliver development activities in to the communities and improve their resilience;


  • focus on communities that are vulnerable, and activities that are responsive and inclusive to community priorities whilst being reinforced and well supported by national processes.; and


  • strengthen the enabling environment and local capacity to develop, drive and take to scale inclusive socioeconomic resilience.
